SKINVIVE™ Skin Booster
An FDA-approved hyaluronic acid skin booster for smoother cheeks and a smoother-looking neck

At LIVO, SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is offered as a standalone skin quality treatment and can also be thoughtfully paired with select in-office treatments. Often described as a “glow from within” treatment, SKINVIVE™ is the first hyaluronic acid skin booster FDA-approved to improve cheek skin smoothness, and, as of 2026, to reduce horizontal neck lines. Our Chicago team will walk you through whether it fits your goals during your consultation.
What SKINVIVE™ is
SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is a skin quality treatment from Allergan Aesthetics, the maker of the JUVÉDERM® collection. It is made of a smooth, modified hyaluronic acid (HA) gel and also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic included to help keep you comfortable during treatment.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the skin, where it helps attract and hold water. With SKINVIVE™, your provider places tiny microdroplets of HA within the dermis, the layer of skin beneath the surface, rather than layering a product on top. This is why SKINVIVE™ is described as working beneath the surface to improve skin smoothness, without changing the shape or volume of your face.
In patient-reported questionnaires, people treated with SKINVIVE™ described their skin as looking glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy. With optimal treatment, results can last up to six months.

Where SKINVIVE™ can be used
SKINVIVE™ is FDA-approved for two areas in adults over the age of 21: the cheeks, to improve skin smoothness, and the neck, to reduce neck lines for an improved neck appearance. It can be offered as a standalone treatment or as part of a broader skin quality plan. Which area is right for you will be determined together during your consultation, based on an assessment of your skin, your goals, and your overall treatment plan.

SKINVIVE™ · Cheeks
The cheeks are where most people notice changes in skin texture and radiance first. SKINVIVE™ was first FDA-approved in 2023 to improve the smoothness of cheek skin, with a focus on skin quality rather than adding volume or changing facial contours.

Why clients choose it
- Cheek skin that looks rough, uneven, or dull
- Wanting a smoother, more luminous “glass skin” look that makeup can’t fully deliver
- Looking for a subtle, natural-looking refresh with no change to facial shape
- Preparing ahead for a wedding, the holidays, or another big event
What can I expect after treatment?
Every client’s skin responds differently, and your provider will set expectations specific to your situation during your consultation. In general, clients commonly report their cheek skin looking smoother, more hydrated, and more radiant in the weeks following treatment, with the overall look described as fresh and natural rather than “done.”
With optimal treatment, results can last up to six months. Some clients may benefit from an optional touch-up, typically around one month after the first session, to reach their desired result, your provider will discuss a reasonable treatment and maintenance schedule with you. If you have an event coming up, we recommend planning at least four weeks ahead.
SKINVIVE™ · Neck
Horizontal neck lines, sometimes called “necklace lines” or “tech neck”, can appear earlier than many people expect, and the neck is often overlooked in a skincare routine. In 2026, SKINVIVE™ became the first hyaluronic acid treatment FDA-approved to reduce neck lines for an improved neck appearance.

Why clients choose it
- Visible horizontal lines across the neck
- Wanting the neck to look as cared-for as the face
- Concern about “tech neck” lines from screen time and posture
- Wanting a non-surgical option focused on skin quality
What can I expect after treatment?
Every client’s skin responds differently, and your provider will set expectations specific to your situation during your consultation. In the clinical study supporting FDA approval, 74.8% of participants treated in the neck showed a clinically meaningful improvement in horizontal neck lines at one month, and most participants (66%) maintained that improvement at six months.¹
With optimal treatment, which may include an optional touch-up about one month after the initial session, results can last up to six months. Individual results vary, and your provider will discuss a reasonable treatment and maintenance schedule with you during your consultation.
SKINVIVE™ Aftercare: What to Know
Most clients return to their normal routine right away. Common side effects at the treatment sites include redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, small lumps or bumps, pain, discoloration, and itching. These are usually mild to moderate and, in clinical studies, most resolved within 7 days for the cheeks and within two weeks for the neck.
Do’s
- Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching, pressing, or rubbing it for the rest of the day
- Apply a broad-spectrum SPF daily to protect your skin as it recovers
- Follow any specific guidance your provider gives you for your treatment plan
- Stay hydrated and give your skin time to settle before judging results
Don’ts
- Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours
- Avoid extensive sun or heat — including saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga — for the first 24 hours
- Avoid alcohol for the first 24 hours
- Avoid laser treatments, chemical peels, or other in-office skin procedures until your provider confirms it is appropriate
If you experience anything beyond mild, expected sensitivity, contact LIVO right away. Seek emergency medical care immediately if you notice changes in vision, signs of a stroke (such as sudden difficulty speaking, numbness, or weakness in the face, arms, or legs, difficulty walking, face drooping, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion), white appearance of the skin, or unusual pain during or shortly after treatment.
A thoughtful plan begins with a consultation
SKINVIVE™ is only offered following an in-person consultation with your LIVO provider. This is not a formality — it’s how we determine whether SKINVIVE™ is a good fit for you, which area is appropriate, and how it fits within your overall skin goals.

Your consultation will cover:
- The area you’re considering (cheeks, neck, or both), and how SKINVIVE™ may support it
- Your allergy history, especially any history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis, or allergies to lidocaine, Gram-positive bacterial proteins, or hyaluronic acid products
- Medications and supplements, including blood thinners and immune-suppressing therapies
- Whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and any history of excessive scarring or pigmentation disorders
- What a realistic outcome and treatment schedule look like for your individual skin
No SKINVIVE™ treatment is added to a treatment plan without this conversation taking place first. We want you to feel confident and fully informed before deciding whether it’s right for you.
What to expect
A SKINVIVE™ session typically takes about 15-30 minutes of treatment time. Your provider will cleanse the area and place a series of tiny microdroplets across the treatment area; the lidocaine in the gel helps keep you comfortable. Your provider will explain the full process, timing, and what to expect afterward as part of your consultation — tailored to the area and treatment plan recommended for you.
Preparing for your appointment
Before your appointment, tell us about any known allergies, all medications and supplements you take, and any active skin concerns. If you take a prescribed blood thinner, do not stop it without talking to your prescribing physician, your LIVO provider will advise you on any over-the-counter medications or supplements to pause. If you have sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or an infection in the treatment area, please let us know, as treatment should be postponed until the area has healed.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a consultation before getting SKINVIVE™?
Yes, always. SKINVIVE™ and the appropriate treatment area are only recommended after your provider has assessed your skin, medical history, and treatment goals in person.
Is SKINVIVE™ FDA-approved?
Yes. SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is FDA-approved to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks (2023) and to reduce neck lines for improvement of neck appearance (2026), in adults over the age of 21. Its safety and effectiveness in other areas have not been established.
How long does SKINVIVE™ last?
With optimal multi-treatments, results can last up to six months. Optimal treatment may include an optional touch-up about one month after your first session. Many clients choose to maintain results with follow-up treatments, as recommended by their provider.
Does SKINVIVE™ hurt?
SKINVIVE™ contains lidocaine to help keep you comfortable, and most clients find the treatment very tolerable. Your provider may also discuss additional comfort options with you during your consultation.
Is there downtime?
Downtime is typically minimal, and most clients return to work and daily activities the same day. Some redness, swelling, or bruising may be visible for a few days, so we recommend scheduling with some buffer before an important event.
Is SKINVIVE™ the same as a dermal filler?
No. While SKINVIVE™ is part of the JUVÉDERM® family and is made with hyaluronic acid, it is designed to improve skin quality — cheek smoothness and neck lines — rather than to add volume or reshape facial contours.
Is SKINVIVE™ the same as Botox®?
No. Botox® and other neuromodulator treatments primarily address specific muscle activity and dynamic lines. SKINVIVE™ is a hyaluronic acid skin booster that works within the skin itself, so it belongs to an entirely different treatment category. The two may be considered together as part of a broader plan.
Can the cheeks and neck be treated at the same visit?
In principle, yes. Whether both areas are treated at the same visit depends on your skin and goals, and your provider will discuss this with you specifically during your consultation.
Is SKINVIVE™ suitable for all skin types and tones?
SKINVIVE™ is designed for healthier-looking skin across skin types and tones. Safety has not been studied in people with a history of excessive scarring or pigmentation disorders, so please share any such history during your consultation.
Who should not get SKINVIVE™?
SKINVIVE™ should not be used by anyone with a history of anaphylaxis or multiple severe allergies, or by anyone allergic to lidocaine, Gram-positive bacterial proteins, or hyaluronic acid products. Safety during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been studied. Your provider will review your full history before recommending treatment.
Important safety information
SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is available only through a licensed physician or properly licensed practitioner. Unintentional introduction of product into a blood vessel is rare but can cause serious and possibly permanent complications, including vision abnormalities, blindness, stroke, temporary scabs, or scarring of the skin. The safety and effectiveness of removing the product have not been studied. Using blood thinners or medications that prolong bleeding may increase bruising or bleeding at the treatment site. Laser treatments or chemical peels after treatment may carry a risk of inflammation. People using immune-suppressing therapy may have an increased risk of infection. Other reported side effects include inflammation, nodules, unsatisfactory result, allergic reaction, infection, dry skin, changes in sensation, and abscess. To report a side effect, call Allergan Product Support at 1-877-345-5372.
