06Neck Rejuvenation
Skin, muscle, fat and facial support all shape the neck

Neck Rejuvenation
Skin, muscle, fat and facial support all shape the neck
The neck often changes differently from the face. Fine creasing may appear early, vertical bands may become more visible, or the angle beneath the chin may soften. These concerns can come from the skin, platysma muscle, fat distribution, jaw support or excess tissue—sometimes all at once.
- Fine horizontal neck lines
- Crepey or sun-damaged skin
- Vertical neck bands
- Reduced definition beneath the chin
- Loose skin or a softer jaw-to-neck transition
Why the neck changes
Neck skin is thin and exposed to cumulative ultraviolet damage. Collagen and elasticity decline, while the platysma muscle can become more visible as vertical bands. Submental fullness, chin projection, lower-face support and the degree of laxity also affect the profile.
The face and neck should be read together
Treating the neck without looking at the jawline and chin can miss the structural reason the area appears soft. Equally, adding jawline filler will not tighten loose neck skin. The plan should reflect which layer is contributing most.
How LIVO assesses the neck
We assess skin quality, horizontal lines, platysma activity, submental fullness, chin and jaw proportions, and the degree of skin excess. We also review previous aesthetic treatments and how the neck relates to the lower face.
- Sofwave™ — FDA-cleared to lift lax submental and neck tissue and improve facial lines and wrinkles in adults.
- PDRN skin rejuvenation — may be considered for neck skin quality within a product-specific plan; it does not remove fat or substantial loose skin.
- Wrinkle relaxers — may be considered for selected platysma activity or bands; neck use, dosing and regulatory status require individualized discussion.
- Structural support — chin or jawline treatment may improve overall proportion when skeletal or volume support contributes to the profile.
Daily skincare and sun protection
Morning — extend facial skincare to the neck and upper chest: gentle cleansing, vitamin C or niacinamide if tolerated, moisturizer, then SPF 30 or higher. Clothing and shade add protection that sunscreen alone cannot provide.
Evening — focus on thorough cleansing and hydration. Consider using a hydrating face mask to provide the skin with sufficient moisture and nourishment.
Skincare may soften fine lines and improve texture, while changes involving deeper structures require a different treatment approach.
Patch-test new products and introduce one active ingredient at a time. Apply sunscreen generously about 15 minutes before sun exposure; when outdoors, reapply at least every two hours and sooner after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
Can one treatment address lines, bands and loose skin?
Usually not. These changes arise from different layers.
Will tightening remove a double chin?
Tightening may improve laxity, but it does not necessarily remove meaningful fat or correct skeletal proportions.
Should the neck be treated at the same time as the face?
Sometimes, but not automatically. We consider continuity between the areas and recommend only what contributes to the result.
A neck plan grounded in anatomy
At LIVO, neck rejuvenation begins with distinguishing skin from muscle, fat and support—then choosing the most proportionate path.
