Dermal Fillers

Restoring proportion, support, and soft transitions

Dermal fillers — refined facial contours
LIVO clinic treatment room

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can refine the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, and other carefully selected areas while softening the transitions between facial features. At LIVO, natural-looking filler results come from thoughtful restraint: the right product, in the right place, with the whole face in mind.

Why facial volume changes

A face does not age by simply becoming “empty.” Skin becomes thinner, fat compartments shift, ligaments lose support, and bone gradually remodels. Weight change, genetics, dental structure, and the natural shape of the face also influence where shadows and hollows appear.

Sometimes a small amount of volume in one carefully chosen area can improve the relationship between several features. In other cases, adding filler may make the face feel heavier or miss the real source of concern. During your LIVO consultation, we will carefully assess your facial structure and design a plan around your individual needs and goals.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are “injectable gels” placed beneath the skin to restore volume, support tissue, or refine contour. Many modern facial fillers are made from cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a gel-forming substance related to hyaluronic acid naturally found in the body.

Different gels are designed to move and support tissue in different ways. A soft, flexible product may suit an expressive area, while a firmer product may be chosen where projection or structural support is desired. We will select the product, depth, and placement according to your anatomy and the result you hope to achieve.

Dermal fillers create an immediate change, although early swelling can make the area look fuller before it settles. Over time, the gel is gradually metabolized by the body.

What fillers can do

A thoughtful plan is often more restrained than expected. At LIVO, our goal is not to fill every hollow, but to identify the few changes that will genuinely improve balance while preserving what already suits you.

Areas that considered

Depending on the product and your individual anatomy, filler may be considered for areas such as:

  • Cheeks and midface support
  • Lips • Chin Shape • Jawline Shape
  • Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Temples

Tear Trough

Nose

  • Selected areas of facial asymmetry

Different fillers are designed for different areas and purposes. During your consultation, we will explain the options that best suit your anatomy, preferences, and desired level of change.

When filler may be worth considering

Filler may be worth considering when a specific change in volume, projection, or proportion is affecting facial balance. This may include a naturally small chin, gradual volume loss, subtle lip refinement, or a transition that has become more shadowed over time.

When the main concern is skin laxity, tissue heaviness, or a change that filler is not designed to address, we may recommend another approach. Sometimes the most elegant plan is to treat a different layer—or to leave an area untouched.

A thoughtful plan begins with the whole face

During your consultation, we will view your facial proportions from the front and side, both at rest and in motion. Skin quality, bone structure, soft-tissue support, natural asymmetry, previous filler, and the way light falls across the face all help shape the plan.

Tell us about your previous aesthetic treatments, current medicines and supplements, allergies, recent dental work, and what you would like to preserve—not only what you would like to change.

At LIVO, we often favor a staged approach. It gives the face time to settle, allows us to reassess with fresh eyes, and keeps each change measured and intentional.

What the appointment is like

Depending on the area, filler may be placed with a fine needle, a blunt-tip cannula, or a combination of both. Many products contain lidocaine, and topical or local anesthetic may also be used for comfort.

Most appointments take about 30 to 60 minutes. A visible change is often present immediately, but early swelling, especially in the lips and under-eye region, means the first-day appearance should not be treated as the final result.

Preparing for your appointment

Before your visit, tell us about previous filler or injectable treatments, allergies, cold sores, recent illness, planned dental work, and any medicines or supplements you use. This helps our provider tailor the appointment to you.

To help minimize bruising, it is sensible to avoid heavy alcohol intake for about 24 hours beforehand. Prescription blood thinners and other medicines should not be stopped unless your prescribing provider advises you to do so.

Standardized photographs are usually taken before the appointment. They help document proportions and make later review more objective.

After your appointment: what to expect

Mild swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, firmness, or temporary asymmetry can occur while the filler settles. These changes are usually most noticeable during the first few days and then gradually soften. Lip swelling may last a little longer.

Avoid pressing, massaging, or trying to reshape the area unless your provider has specifically asked you to do so. We will give you simple aftercare guidance based on the exact product and area treated.

Frequently asked questions

When will I see the result?

A visible change is usually present immediately, although swelling may temporarily make the result look fuller. Many areas are best reviewed at around two weeks, once the face has had time to settle.

How long does filler last?

Longevity varies with the product, area, amount, tissue movement, and individual metabolism. Many hyaluronic acid fillers last roughly 6 to 12 months, while some areas may be shorter or longer. We will discuss a realistic timeframe during your consultation.

Will I look overfilled?

Our approach is to enhance balance, not add unnecessary volume. With carefully selected products, precise placement, and a measured step-by-step plan, we aim for a result that feels natural, refined, and still recognizably you.

Can Dermal filler be dissolved?

Yes. One advantage of dermal filler is that it can usually be adjusted with hyaluronidase if needed. We will assess the area carefully and recommend the most appropriate approach.

Can filler move?

When filler is thoughtfully selected and precisely placed, it is designed to remain where it is intended. Temporary swelling can make an area look different while it settles. During your consultation, we will consider tissue quality, product choice, and placement to support a natural, balanced result.

Can filler be combined with other services?

Yes. Filler may be combined with wrinkle relaxers, collagen stimulators, energy-based treatments, skin resurfacing, or medical skincare. At LIVO, we will plan the order and timing so that each element has a clear purpose and the overall result remains harmonious.
