GLP-1 Weight Management
GLP-1 medical weight loss designed for sustainable change

GLP-1–based medications can be effective tools for eligible clients seeking medical weight loss while living with obesity or overweight with related health concerns. At LIVO, medication is only one part of a broader plan built around health, body composition, nutrition, strength, and long-term maintenance.
How GLP-1–based medications work
GLP-1 receptor agonists and related medications act on pathways involved in appetite, fullness, glucose regulation, and digestion. FDA-approved weight-management options include semaglutide and tirzepatide products for clients who meet the labeled criteria.
These medicines can reduce hunger and make smaller portions feel more satisfying. They do not replace nutrition, movement, sleep, or medical follow-up, and they are not appropriate for everyone.
Who may be eligible
Eligibility is based on medical criteria, not a desire to lose a few pounds for an event. Your provider will review weight history, BMI, weight-related conditions, previous approaches, medications, pregnancy plans, digestive health, and relevant personal and family history.
Where appropriate, laboratory testing and coordination with primary care may form part of the plan.
The LIVO approach
We focus on sustainable change and preservation of lean mass. Your plan may include:
An individualized medication choice and dose-escalation schedule
Nutrition guidance with attention to protein and fiber
Strength and movement planning
Monitoring of side effects, hydration, and bowel habits
Regular review of weight, waist, and body-composition trends where available
A maintenance or transition strategy rather than an abrupt ending
We use FDA-approved medication when medically appropriate and follow current prescribing requirements. Compounded medication is not treated as an interchangeable shortcut and would only be considered when lawful and clinically necessary.
What follow-up looks like
Early follow-up focuses on tolerance, appetite, hydration, and whether the dose is appropriate. The goal is not to reach the highest dose as quickly as possible. A lower dose may be the right dose when it is effective and well tolerated.
As weight changes, we will also discuss strength, facial and skin changes, nutrition, and how to maintain results without losing sight of overall health.
Frequently asked questions
How much weight will I lose?
Results vary. Clinical trials show meaningful average weight loss, but an individual result depends on medication, dose, adherence, biology, nutrition, activity, and time. We will focus on your trend rather than promise a fixed number.
Will I need to take medication forever?
Obesity is often a chronic condition, and weight regain can occur after medication is stopped. Some clients continue long term; others transition with a structured maintenance plan. This should be discussed before treatment begins.
Will I lose muscle?
Weight loss can include lean mass as well as fat. Adequate protein, resistance training, and avoiding unnecessarily rapid loss are important parts of the LIVO plan.
Can I use GLP-1 medication only for cosmetic weight loss?
Prescription weight-management medication should be used according to medical eligibility and after an appropriate evaluation—not simply for a short-term cosmetic target. Book a GLP-1 medical weight-loss consultation at LIVO in Lisle, serving Naperville, Oak Brook, and the western Chicago suburbs. We will assess eligibility and design a plan that supports both results and long-term health.
