Smooth Texture & Refined Pores

Surface smoothness depends on renewal, oil balance and hydration

Texture is the way light moves across the skin. When dead cells build up, pores become congested or hydration falls, the surface can look rougher and pores more visible. The goal is not poreless skin, but a smoother, clearer surface that still looks real.

  • Visible pores through the nose, cheeks or forehead
  • Small bumps or persistent congestion
  • Roughness beneath makeup
  • Uneven light reflection
  • Skin that feels oily and dehydrated at the same time

Why texture and pores change

Pore visibility is influenced by genetics, oil production, congestion, collagen support and the condition of the surrounding skin. Dead-cell buildup can make the surface feel rough; dehydration can make fine texture more apparent. Pores are normal anatomical openings, not flaws that can be permanently erased.

Congestion and texture are related, but not identical

A clogged pore needs a different approach from an acne scar or a dehydrated surface. Strong exfoliation may temporarily feel smooth while weakening the barrier and creating more visible roughness later.

How LIVO assesses texture

We consider oil distribution, comedones, active blemishes, pore visibility, hydration, sensitivity and scarring. This helps us decide whether the priority is cleansing, controlled renewal, collagen remodeling or barrier support.

  • HydraFacial® — combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration in a tailored facial.
  • LIVO Signature Facials — adapt cleansing, exfoliation and hydration to how the skin presents that day.
  • Microneedling — supports collagen remodeling for established texture, visible pores and selected acne scars.
  • Stellar M22™ IPL — may improve accompanying pigment or redness, but it is not a pore-cleansing treatment.
  • PDRN or exosome-based care — may support overall skin quality within a product-specific plan.

Daily skincare and sun protection

Morning — use a gentle cleanser, a lightweight non-comedogenic moisturizer and broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Niacinamide can be a useful daily ingredient for oil balance and barrier support.

Evening — salicylic acid may help clear oil and debris within pores; a retinoid can support cell turnover and smoother texture. Introduce one first, then add the other only if the skin remains comfortable. If you are currently using any retinoid-based or acid-related skincare products, please let us know before your appointment. We will assess your skin condition and provide appropriate recommendations accordingly.

Ingredients worth looking for — salicylic acid for congestion; retinoids for turnover; niacinamide for oil and barrier support; lactic or glycolic acid for surface texture; glycerin and hyaluronic acid for lightweight hydration.

Pores cannot be permanently opened, closed or erased. A routine can make them look less prominent by reducing congestion and improving the surrounding skin.

Patch-test new products and introduce one active ingredient at a time. Apply sunscreen generously about 15 minutes before sun exposure; when outdoors, reapply at least every two hours and sooner after swimming, sweating or towel drying.

Can pores be closed permanently?

No. Their appearance can be refined, but pores remain part of normal skin anatomy.

Is stronger skin exfoliation always better?

No. Over-exfoliation can create irritation, dehydration and a rougher-looking surface.

How often should I have a facial?

The interval depends on oil production, sensitivity, home care and the type of facial.

A smoother surface without chasing perfection

LIVO approaches texture through consistent renewal and barrier care, not the promise of poreless skin.
