Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Expression, skin quality and time leave different kinds of lines

A line is not simply a line. Some appear only when you smile or concentrate. Others remain when the face is at rest. Fine surface creases may reflect dryness or sun exposure, while deeper folds can be shaped by movement, volume change and reduced structural support together.

  • Forehead lines, frown lines or crow’s feet
  • Fine creasing around the eyes or mouth
  • Lines that remain visible when the face relaxes
  • A rougher, less reflective skin surface
  • Deeper folds around the nose, mouth or lower face

Why lines develop

Repeated expression folds the skin in predictable directions. With time, collagen and elastic fibers decline and the skin becomes less able to spring back. Ultraviolet exposure accelerates this process, while dryness can make fine lines look more visible. Deeper folds may also reflect changing fat compartments, bone and facial support.

Dynamic, static and structural lines

Dynamic lines appear mainly with movement and often respond best to treatment of the contributing muscle. Static lines remain at rest and may require attention to skin quality, collagen or support. Structural folds are influenced by facial anatomy and volume; simply relaxing a muscle may not address them.

How LIVO assesses lines

We observe your face at rest and in expression, then consider skin thickness, sun damage, hydration, volume and the depth of each line. The objective is to soften what bothers you without removing the movement and character that make your face recognizable.

  • Wrinkle relaxers — reduce selected muscle activity for expression-led lines.
  • Sofwave™ — supports collagen remodeling and is FDA-cleared to improve facial lines and wrinkles.
  • Microneedling — encourages controlled skin renewal for fine lines and textural change.
  • Stellar M22™ IPL — addresses selected pigment and redness associated with photodamage.
  • Dermal fillers, Sculptra® or Radiesse® — may be considered when a line or fold is influenced by lost support or volume.
  • PDRN or exosome-based care — may be considered for skin quality in a product- and protocol-specific plan; these are different from muscle relaxers and fillers.

The foundation still matters

Daily sun protection, gentle cleansing and appropriate moisturization support every procedural plan. These steps cannot erase established structural changes, but they can reduce avoidable damage and help the skin function well.

Daily skincare and sun protection

Morning — use a gentle cleanser, vitamin C or niacinamide if tolerated, moisturizer, and SPF 30 or higher. Sunscreen is the most important daily step for limiting avoidable photoaging.

Evening — focus on thorough cleansing and hydration. Consider using a hydrating face mask to provide the skin with sufficient moisture and nourishment.

Use one active at a time when building a routine. Consistency is more useful than a crowded shelf of products.

Patch-test new products and introduce one active ingredient at a time. Apply sunscreen generously about 15 minutes before sun exposure; when outdoors, reapply at least every two hours and sooner after swimming, sweating or towel drying.

Can one treatment address every line?

Usually not. Lines created by movement, texture and volume follow different pathways.

Will wrinkle relaxers make my face expressionless?

Dose and placement can be tailored to preserve movement. The desired degree of relaxation should be discussed before treatment.

Can treatments prevent future wrinkles?

Reducing repeated folding and protecting the skin from ultraviolet exposure may slow some visible changes, but no procedure stops aging.

A more precise conversation about lines

At LIVO, we begin by identifying why a line is present. That distinction allows us to recommend a treatment with a clear role—or advise that no procedure is needed yet.

Begin with a consultation

Every LIVO plan begins with listening and a clear understanding of what you want to preserve.
