Stellar M22™ IPL

IPL photofacial for sun spots, redness, and a more even complexion

LIVO wellness clinic interior

Stellar M22™ IPL photofacial uses intense pulsed light to address visible sun spots, acne, uneven pigmentation, redness, and selected vascular changes. The goal is not to erase every mark, but to create a complexion that looks clearer, calmer, and more even while respecting your natural skin tone.

How IPL works

IPL uses a broad spectrum of light, filtered according to the concern being treated. Selected wavelengths are absorbed by melanin in pigment or hemoglobin within visible vessels, allowing the targeted color to break down gradually while surrounding skin is protected.

Because light interacts with pigment, careful assessment of skin tone, recent sun exposure, tanning, and pigmentation history is essential—particularly for clients with Asian or deeper skin tones.

Filtered light→pigment or visible vessel→selective absorption→gradual clearing

What Stellar M22™ IPL may address

Sun spots and selected benign pigmentation

Uneven tone related to photodamage

Visible facial redness and small vessels

A mottled complexion

Inflamed Acne & Post-Acne Redness

Overall photorejuvenation when pigment and redness occur together

A consultation designed around your skin tone

At LIVO, we will assess the color, depth, and pattern of the concern—not simply label every brown spot as the same problem. We will also discuss sun habits, previous reactions, medications, and how your skin tends to pigment after irritation.

Settings, filters, pulse structure, and treatment intervals are individualized. Conservative planning is often the most elegant route, especially when treating pigment-prone skin.

What the appointment is like

A cooling gel may be applied and your eyes will be protected. The handpiece delivers a sequence of light pulses across the planned areas. Most clients describe a brief warm snapping sensation.

Before proceeding with full-face treatment, every client will first have a patch test performed on a small area of skin to assess how the skin responds to the IPL treatment. We will then wait approximately 15–30 minutes and monitor the area for any unusual reaction. Full treatment will only proceed if the skin shows no adverse response.

The appointment commonly takes 20 to 45 minutes. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before they lighten, while redness may look more noticeable for a short time. We will explain what is expected for your specific skin and treatment settings.

Before and after your appointment

Avoid tanning and deliberate sun exposure before and after treatment. Tell us about photosensitizing medications, recent peels or lasers, active skin irritation, and any history of unusual scarring or pigment change.

Afterward, gentle skincare and consistent broad-spectrum sunscreen are essential. Your provider will tell you when to resume retinoids, acids, and other active products.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients benefit from a series because pigment, acne and vessels respond gradually. The number of sessions depends on the concern, skin tone, and how your skin responds after each visit.

Will IPL make my skin peel?

IPL does not usually create the same peeling as a chemical peel. Brown spots may look darker or slightly textured before they naturally fade.

Can IPL treat melasma?

Melasma behaves differently from ordinary sun spots and can sometimes worsen with heat or light. We will identify the pigment pattern first and may recommend skincare or another approach instead.

Can IPL be combined with other treatments?

Yes. IPL may be thoughtfully combined with HydraFacial®, microneedling, Sofwave™, injectables, or medical skincare, with timing chosen to protect the skin and keep the plan coherent. We will assess sun spots, acne, pigmentation, redness, visible vessels, and skin tone before selecting the filter, settings, and treatment course.
