Microneedling

Controlled skin renewal for acne scars, pores, texture, and resilience

Microneedling — controlled microchannels for smoother-looking texture
LIVO wellness clinic interior

Medical microneedling creates precise, controlled microchannels in the skin to encourage a natural repair response. It is often chosen for acne scars, visible pores, uneven texture, and fine lines—without changing facial volume or expression.

How microneedling works

A medical microneedling device uses very fine needles to create uniform micro-injuries at a carefully selected depth. The skin responds through its normal repair process, including collagen and extracellular-matrix remodeling over time.

Depth and intensity matter. A light treatment designed for general refinement is different from a more focused acne-scar plan. At LIVO, the settings are chosen according to your skin, the area, and the amount of recovery time you are comfortable with.

What microneedling may improve

Facial acne scars

Fine lines and early textural change

Visible pores and uneven texture

Selected areas of discoloration when appropriate

Overall skin resilience and smoothness

Microneedling is not the same as radiofrequency microneedling. The treatment page and consent process should clearly reflect the exact device used at LIVO.

Your consultation

We will look at scar type, skin tone, active acne, pigmentation history, sensitivity, previous procedures, and how much downtime fits your schedule. For clients with deeper scars or mixed concerns, a series or combination plan may be more effective than treating the entire face in the same way.

What the appointment is like

After cleansing and preparation, a topical numbing cream may be applied. The device is then passed across the selected areas using individualized settings. Most appointments take around 45 to 60 minutes, including preparation time.

The skin commonly looks pink or flushed afterward and may feel warm or tight. This usually softens over the next few days. The more meaningful changes develop gradually as the skin remodels.

Before and after your appointment

Tell us about active acne, cold sores, eczema, psoriasis, recent tanning, medications, a tendency to form raised scars, and recent procedures. Your provider will advise whether pretreatment skincare is helpful.

Afterward, use only the products recommended by your provider. Gentle cleansing, hydration, and daily broad-spectrum sun protection are central while the skin barrier settles.

Frequently asked questions

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients benefit from a series, particularly for acne scars or more established texture. We will reassess between sessions rather than following a fixed package for everyone.

When will I see results?

A fresher surface appearance may be noticed as redness settles, while collagen-related improvement develops over the following weeks and months.

Can microneedling be used on darker skin tones?

It can be considered across a wide range of skin tones, but pigment history, inflammation, treatment depth, and aftercare matter. We will adapt the plan carefully for your skin.

Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Microneedling may be paired with medical skincare, HydraFacial®, IPL, or other treatments when each step has a clear role. We will plan the order and recovery time around your skin. Book a microneedling consultation at LIVO in Lisle, serving Naperville, Oak Brook, and Chicago’s western suburbs. We will assess acne scars, pores, texture, pigment history, and downtime before tailoring the depth and treatment course.
