A calmer routine begins with understanding what the skin can comfortably tolerate

Sensitive Skin
A calmer routine begins with understanding what the skin can comfortably tolerate
“Sensitive skin” can describe stinging, tightness, easy flushing or a tendency to react to products. Often, the most useful first step is not adding a new corrective active, but reducing variables and rebuilding a routine the skin can sustain.
- Stinging when products are applied
- Tightness or dryness after cleansing
- Easy flushing
- Frequent reactions to new skincare
- Skin that feels unpredictable from week to week
Why skin becomes reactive
The outer barrier limits water loss and reduces contact with potential irritants. When that barrier is disrupted, products that once felt comfortable may begin to sting. Fragrance, over-exfoliation, harsh cleansing and frequent routine changes can all add to reactivity.
Sensitive skin is not a cue to stop skincare entirely
A short, stable routine can cleanse, moisturize and protect the skin without overwhelming it. Once the skin feels consistent, one carefully chosen active can be introduced slowly if it has a clear purpose.
How LIVO assesses sensitivity
We review when reactions occur, which products are involved, how the skin feels after cleansing, current exfoliation and previous procedures. We distinguish temporary over-treatment from an inherently low tolerance, then plan around what the skin can comfortably maintain.
- LIVO Signature Facials — can be simplified and adapted around hydration and barrier comfort.
- HydraFacial® — may be customized for selected sensitive skin, with intensity and solutions chosen carefully.
- PDRN skin rejuvenation — may be considered for overall skin quality in an individualized, product-specific plan.
- Exosome-based care — may be considered as an addition to selected procedures where appropriate.
- Energy-based or collagen-remodeling treatments — considered only after careful assessment of skin tolerance and the specific goal.
Daily skincare and sun protection
Morning — use lukewarm water and a gentle fragrance-free cleanser only if needed, followed by a simple moisturizer and a SPF 30 or higher that feels comfortable enough to use every day.
Evening — cleanse gently and moisturize. Keep the routine stable before adding a treatment active; test new products on a small area and introduce only one at a time.
Ingredients worth looking for — ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, squalane, dimethicone, petrolatum and colloidal oatmeal. Niacinamide may be helpful at a well-tolerated concentration.
Avoid fragrance, essential oils, harsh scrubs, strong astringents and unnecessary combinations of exfoliating acids. Sensitive skin often benefits from fewer products used consistently.
Patch-test new products and introduce one active ingredient at a time. Apply sunscreen generously about 15 minutes before sun exposure; when outdoors, reapply at least every two hours and sooner after swimming, sweating or towel drying.
Does sensitive skin mean I cannot have treatments?
No. It means selection, intensity, preparation and aftercare require more care.
Should I use only products labeled “natural”?
Not necessarily. Natural extracts and essential oils can also irritate the skin.
How should I introduce a new product?
Patch-test first, then add one product at a time and use it less frequently at the beginning.
A quieter routine can be the more intelligent one
LIVO approaches sensitive skin by reducing unnecessary stimulation and choosing each product or treatment for a clear reason.
