03Volume Restoration
Restoring support where the face has changed—not adding fullness everywhere

Volume Restoration
Restoring support where the face has changed—not adding fullness everywhere
Facial volume is not distributed evenly, and it does not change evenly with time. Temples may hollow, the midface may flatten, or transitions around the eyes and mouth may become more visible. Thoughtful restoration is about proportion and support rather than making the entire face fuller.
- Hollowing at the temples
- Flatter cheeks or reduced midface support
- A more visible transition beneath the eyes
- Deeper folds around the nose or mouth
- Features that look tired even when you feel well
Why facial volume changes
Facial aging involves more than gravity. Superficial and deep fat compartments change differently, soft tissues shift, and the underlying bone remodels. Weight change, genetics and individual anatomy influence where these changes become visible. This is why adding the same amount to the same place does not suit every face.
Volume, support and skin quality are different
A hollow may benefit from carefully placed volume. A softened contour may need structural support. Thin or crepey skin may need a skin-quality plan instead. Treating all three as a request for filler can create heaviness without solving the original concern.
How LIVO plans restoration
We assess the face in three dimensions, including the temples, cheeks, under-eye transition, mouth, chin and jawline. We consider existing proportions, natural asymmetry, tissue quality and how one area influences another. Conservative planning often produces a more coherent result than treating each visible line separately.
- Dermal fillers — immediate, precise volume or structural support using an appropriate product and placement.
- Sculptra® — gradual collagen stimulation for broader changes in facial support and volume quality.
- Radiesse® — structural support with subsequent collagen stimulation in selected areas.
- Skin-quality treatments — PDRN, microneedling or other appropriate care may improve the surface and resilience of the skin.
- Sofwave™ — may address laxity and collagen remodeling.
What restraint looks like
Restoration does not require returning every area to an earlier shape. We may prioritize one structural point, treat in stages, or leave an area alone if additional volume would disturb facial balance. Product choice, amount and placement matter as much as the treatment name.
Will volume restoration make me look puffy?
Overfilling is not an inevitable part of treatment. Conservative amounts, correct depth and staged reassessment reduce that risk.
Is collagen stimulation the same as filler?
No. Biostimulators encourage gradual tissue change, while many fillers provide immediate placed volume. Some products have both structural and stimulatory roles.
Does every hollow need to be filled?
No. We consider the face as a whole and treat only where added support improves the overall balance.
Restore what supports the face
A LIVO consultation focuses on where support has genuinely changed and how little intervention may be needed to restore balance.
